The greatest aspect of this expression to many is the ability to capture and depict elements that only happen in a single frame. You can see Monet setting up his hay stack canvases to capture light and the changes it made as it moved through time. You can imagine his endless painstaking effort to do so and never ever being able to capture that moment and work on it until it gained perfection in its own expression. And yet, he did what he did under the constraints that only he knew and his genius has always shown in all on which he worked.
Today like never before, the digital age has opened this avenue with seemingly endless possibilities.
This will, of course, be tempered by some new found discovery, change, or some label that some by-standing art critic, art historian, or artist wants to attach to it. Artists now find themselves alive and overcome by the ability to not only see that single moment but to convey their feelings, emotions, passions and creations based on that single moment. Even this opportunity in which that single moment takes them is tiny in comparison to the opportunities which now lay before them.
